Beautifully evoked. the only thing I'd take issue with is the idea of 70s Britain as a cinematic dead zone. That rings more true of the 80s, but through the 70s we had Mike Hodges, Nic Roeg, Richard Lester, Joseph Losey and Ken Russell, working in Britain intermittently perhaps, but often brilliantly.
