Lars von Trier's "Breaking the Waves" [1996] is also an excellent example of that '70s cinematic aesthetic. The cinematography of that film makes it looks like it was actually filmed in the '70s. Vincent Gallo's "The Brown Bunny" [2003] also acheives the '70s cinematic aesthetic of photographic naturalism.
