    The Aaron Copland Collection at the Library of Congress offers users electronic access to hundreds of photographs, correspondences, music, and writing.
  • Ad Flip  
    A large database of classic print ads dating back to 1940, including movie ads. About 10 percent of the archive is publicly available; the rest of the content can only be accessed through a paid subscription.
  • adaweb  
    Active from 1994 to 1997 and archived by the Walker Art Center, this website was among the first and most influential sites devoted to Internet-based art.

    Search for primary sources in American archives. The site will tell you the title of a work or file and which archive it is in, but you will have to contact each specific archive to be able to access those works.

  • ArtPort  
    The Whitney Museum of American Art's portal to Internet art features a host of commissioned online projects, including the group exhibition CODeDOC, which examined software code as art. Active through 2006.
  • Cineaste  
    Cineaste is a quarterly film journal in publication since 1967 with reviews, articles, and interviews. Selected issues since 2001 are archived with article titles, authors, abstracts, and occassionally a few online, full-text articles. All issues back to 1976 are catalogued with keyword descriptions of articles.
  • Cinema Scope  
    Past issues of this international cinema journal, published in Canada, are available for order and listed by article keywords and filmmakers. Recent issues are listed with full tables of contents and a number of links to full-text articles.
  • Critical Studies in Television   Peer Reviewed
    Published biannually, CST examines the production, reception, and aesthetics of television fiction, past and present. Abstracts are available for all articles from current and past issues, and the site has an excellent resources section linking to further reading on television studies.
  • Directory of Corporate Archives in the U.S.  
    An index of corporate archives that lists each archive's location, archivist, and contact information. A good source for business information in areas ranging from technology to industry history.
  • Euro Screenwriters: Interviews with European Film Directors  
    A website for aspiring screenwriters hosts this section of interviews with famous directors. The interviews are culled from various resources. The film clips section has video interviews and other material, including trailers edited by Jean-Luc Godard.
  • Film Comment  
    The website for the Film Society of Lincoln Center's magazine of contemporary film criticism provides a detailed index of past issues. All back issues are available for order and selected articles since 1997 are provided in full.
  • Film Journal  
    The online Film Journal, featuring criticism on both contemporary and classic cinema, makes every article available in full, indexed by title and issue.
  • Film Studies, Manchester University Press   Paid Subscription Required Peer Reviewed
    Manchester University Press provides abstracts and tables of contents for Volumes 4 to 11 of Film Studies, a biannual journal that "aims to rescue this vital and still young field of study from premature academicism." Online full-text articles are available with institutional subscriptions.

    An academic journal looking at world cinema, aesthetics, and film studies from a philosophical point of view. An archive is organized by volume, and full-text articles are available from every issue.
  • Gallery of Graphic Design  
    An online archive of advertising in American periodicals from the early 1930s to the late 1960s. Users can search for advertisements by periodical, advertiser, product, keyword, or year. The gallery features many advertisements for television sets and other broadcast-related items.
  • Halcyon Days: Interviews with Classic Game Designers  
    A collection of interviews with videogame designers from the 1980s and 1990s. Published by James Hague.
  • Independent Television Programme Information   Paid Subscription Required
    Database of UK television listings from 1955 through 1985. Available only to British students.
  • Jonathan Rosenbaum  
    The website of critic Jonathan Rosenbaum contains an archive of reviews published in the Chicago Reader between 1987 and 2007 as well as reviews and articles for other journals and publications. There is one featured text per week as well as a regularly updated blog.
  • Jump Cut: A Review of Contemporary Media   Peer Reviewed
    Examining moving image media and cultures from an explicitly "nonsectarian left, feminist, and anti-imperialist" political stand, the website of the journal Jump Cut provides a chronological, searchable archive with access to full-text essays, reports, and features going back to its first issue in 1974.
